Howdy Cole Families!
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! I’m super excited to kick off another year with our FABULOUS Cole community. With strong momentum, new resources, and a wonderful team, I truly believe this is going to be the best year yet for our Dragons.
A few celebrations:
Over 50% of our K–3 students are now proficient in early reading skills.
We had twenty-one 5th graders complete Seal of Biliteracy projects highlighting their hard work.
Cole increased our ACCESS Median Growth Percentile to 51, which is a strong indicator that our Multilingual Learners are making meaningful progress.
This all reflects the powerful partnership between home and school, the talent of our teachers, and the resilience of our students. We're proud and we're just getting started.
Our academic focus this year remains on math growth, especially on our state assessments. To support this, we’re rolling out a new math curriculum: Imagine IM. This program is designed to give all students access to rigorous, meaningful math experiences and help close skill gaps. We’re also launching 3D ELD, a new English Language Development curriculum that supports our Multilingual Learners with rich language development and access to grade-level content. Both are aligned to our vision of delivering innovative instruction that meets the needs of every learner.
We’re also welcoming some amazing new staff members:
Kelly Donnelly, our new Dean, and Sara Hogan, our new Student Support Liaison, will lead our behavior and culture team to ensure Cole remains a safe, respectful, and joyful place to learn.
Ms. Oona Gourlay is joining ECE ELA-E.
Ms. Aubree Grove is joining 2nd Grade ELA-E.
Ms. Jody Finch is joining 4th Grade Math.
Ms. Savanna Guzman is joining 5th Grade ELA-S.
We are excited to welcome these new staff members who bring energy and a deep sense of responsibility to the work ahead.
In other exciting news, we had grass installed this summer! It’s looking beautiful, but like any good glow-up, it needs a little time to settle in. We kindly ask that everyone stick to the sidewalks for now to give our new turf the chance to take root.
This year, I’ll also be hosting more family engagement meetings, and I really hope to see you there. To show our appreciation for your partnership, we’ll be handing out tokens at each meeting that your student can use in our brand-new Cole Book Vending Machine to select a free book to keep. We’ve even set up a space where you and your child can sit and read part of the book together. We want our school to be a place that feels welcoming, connected, and centered on a shared love of learning.
Thank you for continuing to be such an essential part of our Cole family. Your involvement, ideas, and support fuel everything we do. I’m ready to keep leading alongside you as we keep pushing towards excellence.
With respect and enthusiasm,
Meredith Brown
